Learning opportunities

outside the traditional

classroom setting

We are excited to be sharing the Outdoor Learning Center with our guests.  Recently, we have had school groups learning about the native animals and rocks of the areas. The Outdoor Learning Center area will provide great experiential learning opportunities for students outside the traditional classroom setting. This new facility will improve, enhance and expand the Outdoor Education Opportunities offered to schools, their students and others in the Panhandle Region and has strong support from area teachers/administrators.

Thank you to our generous donors, foundations and board members that helped us celebrate the opening of this important educational facility and a special thanks to Kaleidoscope, Inc for the design of this building and Custom Gardens of Amarillo, TX for the construction of this new facility.

Learning Opportunities for Outdoor Education:

  • Habitats — mammal, reptile, insect, aquatic
  • Rock formations, fossils, petrified wood, soils
  • Night sky observations
  • Photography
  • Bird watching
  • Hiking
  • Native plant characteristic
  • Water studies
  • Energy conservation – building construction

This is a fabulous addition to Ceta Canyon and hightened the kids educational experience.
